Sub-system for School Principal's Nominations

The main objective of this Sub-system is to give due recognition to students who have contributed to social services or made outstanding achievements in non-academic areas such as sports, music, social services, other cultural activities, or who have demonstrated leadership abilities. This Sub-system is also designed to encourage schools to provide opportunities for their students to participate in different areas of non-academic activities, and for students to make good use of these opportunities.

More details on the Sub-system can be found at the JUPAS website.

Interview Arrangements

Interviews for the Sub-system for School Principal's Nominations will be held in mid June. Nominees under the JUPAS Sub-system for School Principal's Nominations will be invited to interviews provided that:
  1. they have selected HKBU programme(s) in their JUPAS Band A choices;
  2. they currently fulfill or are due to fulfill the admission requirements for the University and Band A Programme(s).
Applicants who are selected for interview will receive an SMS message and an email notification containing interview details around the first week of June.

Assessment of School Principal's Nominations

Based on the applicants' interview performance and information stated in their JUPAS applications, interviewed applicants will be informed of the following interview results prior to the announcement of HKALE results:
  1. Any Conditional Offer, subject to fulfillment of the offer conditions stated in the interview result notification letter;
  2. Any bonus scores that will improve the chance of admission;
  3. That all applications are considered on equal grounds.

NB: Any favourable considerations will only be made if the particular HKBU Programme(s) are placed in the applicant's Band A choices after final reprioritization of choices are made in July.

Announcement of School Principal's Nominations

School Principal's nominees and the relevant School Principals will be informed of the outcome of the nominations by post before the announcement of HKALE results.

 Self Recommendation Scheme (SRS)

Introduction

Founded in 1956, the University has established its place in Hong Kong's tertiary education sector. With its emphasis on academic excellence, whole-person education and all-round development with a Christian ethos, the University has participated in the JUPAS Self Recommendation Scheme with the view to giving due recognition to JUPAS applicants who have made outstanding achievements in the following extra-curricular activities:
  • Awards from/Participation in International/National/Regional Competitions or Achievements in Local Competitions
  • Awards from/Participation in Other Local Competitions/Inter-School Competitions or Key Positions Held Demonstrating Leadership
  • School/Community Services
  • Other Extra-curricular Activities/Achievements

Eligibility

If you are a JUPAS applicant and believe that you have made outstanding achievements in extra-curricular activities, you are eligible to nominate yourself to HKBU programmes under the Self Recommendation Scheme if you meet the following criteria:
  • have chosen HKBU programme(s) as your JUPAS Band A choice(s); and
  • have met/are going to meet the University's and the Programme's admission requirements of your Band A choices.

Submission of Self Recommendation Portfolio and Supporting Documents

The deadline for applicants to submit a portfolio for consideration of the University under the Self Recommendation Scheme to the JUPAS Office is Dec 5, 2011. For details, please refer to the latest JUPAS Guide or visit the JUPAS website.

Interview Arrangements

Interviews for the Self Recommendation Scheme will be held in mid June. Applicants who are selected for interview will receive an SMS message and an email notification with interview details around the first week of June.

For verification purposes, when attending the interview, applicants are requested to produce original copies of supporting documents for the awards/achievements/services, stated in their Self Recommendation Portfolio.

Please note that only applicants who have made outstanding achievements in non-academic areas will be selected for interview.

Assessment of Self Recommendation

SRS score will be computed based on the applicant's non-academic achievements and JUPAS Band A programme choices. Favourable consideration will be given to applicants only if the HKBU programmes remain as Band A choices after reprioritization of choices made in July.

For programmes that are placed as Band A choices after final reprioritization, the departments concerned will decide whether Self-recommendation will be considered.

In addition to non-academic achievements, applicants are required to fulfill the minimum University and Programme admission requirements to be considered for admission. Please note that all admissions are competitive and that meeting minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission.

Announcement of Self Recommendation Results

The final decision on admission will be announced together with the result of the JUPAS Main Round exercise. No separate notification will be sent to individual applicants.
