BA (Hons) in English Language & Literature, Graduate of 2010

My life at HKBU was exciting, with good support from the University. I was given chances to participate in Model United Nations (MUN) Conferences around the world, in USA, Singapore, Beijing, Hong Kong and Sydney. I participated as delegate of HKBU and brought three awards home. I also served as Director twice, in Hong Kong and Sydney.
These opportunities opened my eyes to the world of elites with dynamic debates, brilliant speeches and wonderful social activities. In competition and cooperation with students from Yale, West Point, Brown, UCL, LSE, Tsinghua, etc, I felt the differences and similarities of students from the best universities in the world, and learned a lot from them. HKBU is a place where you can find new chances everywhere to bridge you to the world.
Chow Teck Huey (from Malaysia)
BBA (Hons) in Accounting, Year 2

As a freshman studying abroad, it has been quite challenging to get used to a new study and living environment. Fortunately, I have met many helpful coursemates and responsible tutors.
Besides studying, I have also learned many things in hall life. It is the first time that I have lived in a student residence hall. However, I am very happy because I have a good roommate. From her, I have learned, I have to be kind, helpful and tolerant. Besides, Hong Kong is quite different from my homeland, Malaysia. Even though I have lived here for about one year, I cannot totally get used to the lifestyle. Luckily, the International Office is always concerned about international students.
Finally, studying abroad is a good opportunity to develop my independence, self-discipline and time management skill. I feel so grateful to have this opportunity to study in HKBU.
Chen Yi Tian, Chloe
BA (Hons) in English Language & Literature and BEd (Hons) in English Language Teaching, Year 4

HKBU provides a platform for me to increase my life exposure, in terms of both academic experience and various extracurricular activities. In particular, I appreciate the opportunities to equip myself with a global view. My time as an exchange student has been the highlight in my university life.
I studied at Mercer University, USA where I tasted American culture by going to local celebrations such as the American Indian Festival. I was impressed by the artefacts made by native Americans, as well learining about their way of living. During Thanksgiving, I had a chance to see what a typical Thanksgiving dinner is like with my host family. Making friends from all over the world was another major gain. I enjoy interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds and we had lots of fun together. In short, exchange study is definitely an unforgettable experience.

I am so glad to be a HKBU student! Staff members here are helpful and friendly. Students are kind and diligent. We always try our very best in both academic and extra curricular activities because the University encourages Whole Person Education. I really enjoy my time in HKBU.
In addition, I would like to offer my sincere thanks to HKBU because it provided me with the golden opportunity to join the exchange programme at Fudan University, Shanghai. I treasured it so much because it allowed me to understand the latest developments in China and traditional Chinese cultures. I had a great time in Shanghai and made many new friends!
Chan On Lap
BA (Hons) in Humanities, Year 3

I like adventures and discover new things.
Being an exchange student to Eastern Europe had always been my dream. Thank you HKBU, for giving me the chance to make my dream come true. Starting from Czech Republic, I went to numerous mesmerizing and mysterious Eastern European countries and embarked on unforgettable journeys, such as sailing in the biggest lake district in Poland and kayaking 100km in the river in Lithuania. Other than having the chance to travel around, I also met many overseas friends. They made me a more caring and curious person. Every time I arrive at a train station, the rumble noise of the train always reminds me that the journey is the destination.
Zhang Shu Ge, Sugar (from China)
BA (Hons) in Physical Education & Recreation Management, Year 3

The summer of 2010 was so wonderful and memorable for me. I appreciated being provided the opportunity to join the International College Program of Walt Disney World.
Working and living at Disney World was significant and meaningful. During my three-month internship, I learned how a theme park can be managed well, and interacted with people from various cultural backgrounds. I also visited prosperous and sleepless New York City, walked around the dreamlike and historical Washington D.C., and even enjoyed viewing the peaceful but vital forest on the railway trip. All of these memories have been engraved on my heart.
Life at HKBU deserves to be experienced in a heartfelt way. Although the three-month internship was only a small portion of my time at university, it will bring prolonged benefits to my future life.
