Students taking LANG1480 in Semester 1, 2011-12 are requested to go to http://buar2.hkbu.edu.hk/upload/uss/orientation/ug/lang1480-med.htm to select the medium of instruction, either in Cantonese or Putonghua) for the course during August 3 - 9, 2011. If we do not receive your preference by August 9, 2011, non-local student will be assigned to the section with Putonghua as medium of instruction while local student will be assigned to the section with Cantonese as medium of instruction.

All students are required to take a 3-unit Chinese Language course: LANG1480 University Chinese
The course aims to improve students' Chinese proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Students with grade 'C or below' in the AS Level subject Chinese Language and Culture are required to pass LANG1480 University Chinese. Students with grade 'B or above' in the AS Level subject Chinese Language and Culture may take LANG1480 University Chinese or a 3-unit course from the following list:

If you have attained grade 'B or above' in the AS Level subject Chinese Language and Culture, please go to http://www3.hkbu.edu.hk/lang1480-option during August 3 - 9, 2011 to indicate your preference for choosing 'LANG1480' or other replaced courses. If we do not receive your preference by August 9, 2011, you are required to take LANG1480 "University Chinese' during your studies in the University. If you have indicated that you wish to take the replacement course, you are exempted from taking LANG1480 and you should select and add the replacement course during your registration timeslot(s). Please note that the decision you made cannot be reversed afterwards.
